Kaitoki TrekThe Kaitoki Tour begins with a Maori welcome on our family marae (traditional meeting place).  After taking part in this authentic cultural activity, you will be invited to climb aboard our 4WD vehicle to explore and learn about farming in rural New Zealand.  Here you will get close and personal to cows, pigs, turkey and the wild life of Aotearoa New Zealand.  Our tour will also take you past wahi tapu or ancient sacred sites that are on the farm.

Our arrival to Kaitoki bush camp gives you the exclusive opportunity for a guided rainforest walk through our private reserve.  Here you will learn some of the secrets the indigenous Maori people have with the forest.  Medicines, foods and wild life from the forest are still gathered today in the rural and culturally rich valley of Motatau.

Laying HangiAfter our short walk, we will invite you into Haamiora, our main house at Kaitoki camp for a picnic lunch with organic ingredients sourced locally.   If you would like to try a hangi (traditional Maori feast cooked underground) this is also an option, just let us know when making your booking.

Once we have finished our meal, you will receive a traditional Maori farewell and we will take you back via 4WD to your awaiting vehicle or your local accommodation.

The Kaitoki Tour can be adjusted to suit different levels of fitness. Please bring a day pack, tramping boots or durable running shoes, wet weather jacket and a drink bottle. Don’t forget your camera!
